Users from all professional groups with basic knowledge in data processing (e.g., Excel or databases) or another statistical software package (SAS, Stata, SPSS, ...).

description

The course offers an introduction to a basic set of modern, coherent tools to solve most day-to-day data processing, visualisation, and reporting tasks in R. Statistical modeling will be covered briefly.

No previous experience with R is required, but the participants should be familiar with data processing and visualisation (Excel, databases, SAS, Stata, SPSS, ...).

Highlights:

  • Introduction to R
  • Visualization with ggplot2
  • Data manipulation with dplyr
  • Reporting and presentations with knitr + rmarkdown

If time permits, some or all of the following topics will also be covered:

  • Exploratory data analysis
  • Tidy data: Pivoting and nesting with tidyr
  • Functional programming with purrr
  • Declarative workflows with remake
  • Version control with Git

For all Zurich R Courses, participants should bring their own laptops to the course.
